I did not get the opportunity to see children and teachers interacting in the environment but overall, I was impressed. Star America Preschool is a chain of Preschools in NY. The one I had the opportunity to visit was the brand new location in NY. The school has a convenient location and is beautiful inside. The walls are painted bright and friendly and the school seems very inviting to children. Class sizes are small and each teacher has an assistant. The Director was warm and friendly and was willing to answer all my questions. To make up for no outside play area the center has a gross motor room which classes take turn using. I did not get the opportunity to see children and teachers interacting in the environment but overall, I was impressed.

There are some very good staff members here but they aren’t given the tools needed to successfully do their jobs. There are much better child care centers and for what they are charging parents, it isn’t worth it. My child started there very young and in the beginning I was happy but now I see what they are lacking. The teachers morale is low because the pay is low, they don’t have the staff development needed to offer great child care and the owner is clueless, all he cares about is making money not about the children. Parents don’t be fooled by he show they put on for you when you visit, this is one of the worst daycare centers around.

this center is … pretty expensive and is not worth it . it doesn’t have much to offer but play play play . personally for what they are asking for you can hire a babysitter for less and have your child taken to the park , as well as story time and arts and craft. ect this school doesn’t offer any of the above just play play and play parents beware

I have 2 children, one attended Star Preschool 3 years ago and I was not happy at all with both the staff and the director of the school at that point, but I decided to give this school a second chance and was very happy to see so much has changed, both the director and the staff are terrific. My son loves going here and I think part of it has to do with his teacher, she is great and I have to mention that Ms.Denia is one of the best teachers that i have come across. I do recommend that parents reconsider this school because I can say so much has changed and the staff and curriculum has improved tremendously and I hope they continue to hire quality staff that love their job and are dedicated to the children.

My son attended his pre-k year at the Star America branch in Brooklyn on 9th Avenue. I have to say it was the most amazing experience for him. He loved his teachers and I saw him come a long way from day 1. He attended summer school as well and after a full year of pre-k into summer, he has come out learning how to read/write, add/subtract in double digits which is well into 1st grade material. The environment is great and teaching phenomenal. I would highly recommend any child to attend pre-k here!

Ms. Shandella is wonderful. My child loves her for being a good care-giver. However, Ms.Denia is terrible. Can’t believe that such an agressive person is teaching those small children.

this center is one of the worst care center in NYC. It is expensive and not worthly The director and most staffs are very unprofessional, moody, unfriendly and lack of respect to parents. For the amount that you are asking, they should at least provide a few certified teachers. The cirriculum is very poor so the communication. Children are in the room watching movie and play most of the time.

I must say that I am pretty happy with the staff at Star America Manhattan. All the teachers and assistants with whom I have interacted are wonderful, nice and caring toward the children there. It’s great to see the artworks done by my kid (of course with the help of her teachers), which happens quite often. The teachers do provide the parents a week to week school theme via a monthly newsletter. I feel that the staff members have improved the curriculum and also their organization of activities for the children. I must say that the school may not be organized in terms of its communication, but it has improved quite a lot in the one year and a half my girl has spent in the school. I am often able to seek feedback from my child’s teachers with her developmental progress. My girl has learned quite a lot from going to Star America. She does get to play a lot, but that’s how a small child learn. I am sure that there are many wonderful, full-time day care preschools besides Star America, perhaps even better. Even though I cannot easily make any comparison since Star America is the first school that my girl has attended, I feel that it has been a positive environment for my girl as I see her being so happy there, dancing and playing with her friends.

My son attended Star America everything was great. I never really had a chance to stop by to see him but there were couples of times I did and the times I did I did not like what I saw. Like there was a time were the teacher step to the bathroom and left the other babies alone! ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN IN THAT SECOND!!! There was another time that I stop by and the babies were unattended meaning that they were crying and when I asked why she said because they were tired I just think it was because she has them all day in the bouncer!!! I even witness the teacher throwing food away because the baby didn’t finish it? When I asked her what was she doing she replayed that it was ok!!! I decided to take my baby out because I noticed that the only thing that he was doing is sleeping and eating, sleeping and eating all day.
