Poverty Hurts Children The Most
“Every year, 10 million children die before their fifth birthday, nearly all of them from preventable causes.” one.org
That’s approximately 30,000 children dying globally per day, from simple things such as: lack of food, clean drinking water, common medications and vaccines.UNICEF
With an estimated 2.2 billion children in the world, 1 billion of them live below the poverty line. UNICEF
With statistics like this, there remains little left to be said. Unfortunately, the stats are not enough to help these children. There are countless organizations dedicated to helping, but it is an uphill battle.
“The ONE Campaign seeks to raise public awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease and efforts to fight such problems in developing countries.” one.org
One.org has made actual progress and the momentum is growing. Americans from all 50 states are taking part by volunteering, donating, signing petitions and contacting their elected representatives.
There are small things each of us can do, so please take moment to see how you can contribute: one.org
